Office landlord and developer Highwoods Properties has sold one of the few apartment properties in its portfolio to a Kansas City multifamily company. Raleigh-based Highwoods Properties (NYSE: HIW) announced March 12 it had sold the 96-unit Neptune Apartments at Kansas City’s Country Club Plaza for $11 million. Highwoods owns most of Country Club Plaza, but the apartments were considered a non-core asset. That doesn’t mean Highwoods is completely shying away from multifamily though. In Cary, Highwoods is a joint venture partner with multifamily developer Northwood Ravin in the construction of the 215-unit The Lofts of Weston Lakeside project on Weston Parkway. Highwoods also owns the remaining unsold condominium units on the upper floors of the PNC Plaza Tower building in downtown Raleigh, a building formerly known as RBC Plaza. At the end of last year, 14 of its 125 residential condo units were still available for sale. Click here for more details about the Neptune Apartments sale in Kansas City.
