NAIOP held our March chapter meeting at the Players Retreat at Lonnie Poole in Raleigh. Neill Sherron, Longfellow Real Estate Partners led a panel discussion on New Market Tax Credits with Ken Reiter, President,  Belmont Sayre, Andrew Foster, Managing Member, The Law Office of Andrew Foster, PLLC, and Lane Player, Deployment Director, New Markets Tax Credit Program, TD Bank. Panelists walked us through the ins and outs of tax credits (eligibility and competitiveness, ineligible uses, typical leverage deal structure) gave specific examples in the Triangle, and used a case study in Eastern NC. Delegates from the NAIOP Research Triangle Board traveled to Washington,  D.C. for NAIOP Corporate’s annual Legislative and Leadership Retreat, February 9-11, 2015.

The retreat is designed for Board members and committee leaders from NAIOP’s United States and Canadian chapters to gain professional development, education and sharing lessons learned in managing the many diverse aspects involved in successful chapter leadership.The extraordinary achievements of NAIOP chapters are recognized by honoring them with Chapter Merit Awards during a gala dinner and awards ceremony. Congratulations to the NAIOP Research Triangle for winning small chapter of the year!

In addition, NAIOP leaders travel to Capitol Hill to meet with their respective Congressman and Senators to discuss NAIOP’s whitepapers.

The NAIOP Chapter Merit Awards are an annual awards program that honor the outstanding events, publications and strides of the NAIOP chapters across the U.S. and Canada. The awards are presented at the NAIOP Annual Chapter Leadership & Legislative Retreat in Washington DC. Award winners are chosen by a peer committee comprising of volunteer judges throughout the U.S. and Canada.

NAIOP Research Triangle was named Small Chapter of the Year on February 10, 2015. Congratulations to all the NAIOP RT members and volunteers who contribute to the success of our chapter.
